Prompt Post -Part One! [CLOSED TO NEW PROMPTS]

Welcome to the Young Justice: Animated anonymous fic meme!

How does it work? Basically, you leave prompts, and people fill them with glorious fic. Pretty simple. Anonymity is allowed for those that feel nervous or awkward requesting or filling, but it isn't actually obligatory. Unlike a lot of memes (like kink memes) this doesn't have a particular focus beyond the fandom. Het, gen, slash, femslash, anything else you can think up? Welcome! Crack, drama, angst? Go nuts!

However, we do have some...

Rules and guidelines.

• Animated canon only, please. Crossovers are fine, so is integrating comics/etc. stuff into animated canon, but no outright Young Justice comic stuff, please.
• Be reasonable. Polite. Etc. You may be anonymous, but that is no excuse for being ridiculous.
• Likewise, be considerate in your prompting. Trigger warnings are appreciated (for content that may seriously upset people with past experience, such as rape/non-con, self harm, suicide, etc.- at the absolute least, please make it clear what the fic contains about before someone stumbles across it halfway through!), and please be careful with your wording. Memes like this often touch on some sensitive material. If you feel somebody has posted an actively offensive prompt, please either PM me or use the mod post here to bring it to my attention.
• One prompt per post, please!
• Repeat after me: Your Kink Is Not My Kink. Don't attack people's prompts because they aren't your cup of tea!
• Look, just don't wank up a storm in general. I'm sure we can all manage, right? :)
ETA: Please do not reprompt things until we reach a second part. In addition, I encourage anyone looking for things to fill to go back through previous pages. A lot of people have old prompts tracked, so your fills will still be seen!

This is the 'flat' view of the page; it shows comments in the order they're posted, rather than as threads. Makes it easier to see new fills on previous pages.

I'll look at getting a Delicious or Diigo or something-or-other archive up for filled prompts if it gets to the point we feel it'd be useful. In the meantime, have fun!

ETA: We now have a discussion post if you need one!

ETA: I need help with archiving! Also, we set up a fill post.

Can you please leave links to any fic you write there. See the post for more details. Thanks!

ETA: GUYS. I am officially making the 'PM me about offensive prompts' thing obligatory. Please, I have difficulty keeping up without your wonderful help!

Incidentally, being polite includes not telling people they're being 'too sensitive' for being bothered by things. Just sayin'. This place is a safe space, in so much as I can make it one, and I don't really like the rhetoric of 'oh, if you're offended you're oversensitive' that I'm seeing in a couple places? Remember: people may have had different experiences than you that influence their view. Don't assume. :)

In-progress Delicious account.

The Things Between Us [1a/?]

It starts at a gay bar. In an act of political terrorism, a group of arsonists had sealed all exits to the building and set fire to it. By the time that Young Justice had arrived, neither the local fire department or police had, and the voices from inside the building were frantic and terrified. The bar had been located near a river, and Aqualad was able to pump the water up and into the building, carefully putting out the fire. Once he had cleared an opening, it was their job to save the occupants. They moved quickly, fearing that the building would collapse, and with Miss Martian's telepathy, they were able to safely remove everyone from the building. It wasn't until then, when the fire was nearly out and Kid Flash had already run several victims to the nearest hospital, that the police, fire department and ambulances had finally arrived. Robin yelled at them for ten solid minutes about responding to emergency calls quickly, about how a building packed with people almost all died, about how they were the most incompetent people he had ever meet, get these people some medical attention for Christ's sake, before the team boarded back into the bio ship.

They're halfway home, tired and soot covered, when Wally says, "Hey, Rob. What do you call a gay bar with no bar stools?" Robin looks over at him, ill-tempered and tight-lipped. "A fruit stand."

Artemis let out a snort of laughter, covering her mouth with her hand to hide her grin. Robin quickly looked away from both of them, feeling his blood pounding in his head, but Wally keeps going. "Did you hear about the two gays that had an argument in the bar? They went outside to exchange blows."

She laughs again, and Kaldur audibly sighs from the other side of the ship. "What do two lesbians call their period?"

"What?" Wally asks, leaning forward in his seat.

"Finger painting."

Both of the break out laughing, M'gann and Conner looking at them in confusion. Kaldur is rubbing his forehead in a manner that makes it look like he has a headache. "Knock it off, you guys. It's been a long night." Robin mutters, not looking at either of them.

"Just trying to lighten the mood, Rob, jeez." Both of them look at him oddly, like making awful gay jokes is the proper thing to do after seeing such blatant homophobia. But at least they shut up, and at this point, that's all that he really wants. Unfortunately, the silence breaks as soon as they land back in Mount Justice.

The Things Between Us [1b/?]

Wally comes up behind him, flinging an arm around his shoulders. "Okay, so, these two fags walk into a bar -"

"Dude!" Robin yells, elbowing him away, anger flaring after the bad night. "Try to be a little more P.C., would you?"

"What?" Wally asks, looking at him in confusion. "It's not like anyone here is gay." He makes a sweeping gesture with his hand, indicating the team with a laugh.

"I'm here."

He says it before he can think about it, but he's not going to take it back; he already keeps enough secrets from Wally. He can see Wally's expression stiffen, humor frozen on it like those who have inhaled Joker's laugh gas. "Yeah, you're here, but you're not..." Robin didn't look away, his shoulders squared. "Rob? You're not, right?"

"So what if I am?" It comes out more defensive than he meant, because he never planned for this to happen, and nothing is going the way it should. Wally's eye boggled, his mouth going slack. Artemis' eyebrows shot up,, her mouth quirking slight. Kaldur stood a bit away, looking as though he was debating on whether or not he should intervene. Conner and M'gann still just looked confused.

"But you've... you've never... you're not. Stop playing around." He tried to smile at him, but it mostly just came out as a grimace.

"I'm not playing around. I'm gay." And just like that, everything drained from Wally's face. He just stood there, mask pushed back over his head, just staring at Robin like he's a stranger. Then he takes a step backwards. And another.

And he's gone.

Robin doesn't say anything, doesn't look at his teammates as he brushes past them. He barely restrains himself from running to his room, his desire not to show then weakness beating his desire to hide. His body feels heavy, and his chest tight, but he tries his best to ignore it, because this isn't the worst thing that has happened to him (even if it doesn't feel like it right now). His locks the door behind him when he finally gets into his room, programing it to stay that way until he says otherwise. The costume is torn off as he makes his way to the bed, everything but his mask and underwear, it suddenly feeling too tight and itchy against him.

He wants to hit something, but he thinks that might just be to stop himself from crying.

After laying on the bed for several long moments, suddenly no longer tired, he grabs his phone. Robin stares at it, arguing with himself, before finally flipping it open and typing out a quick message, sending it before he can convince himself otherwise.

Wally. Can we talk? ... Please?

He doesn't get a response.

Re: The Things Between Us [1b/?]

oh gods.
this is so saddening and beautiful. i'm looking forward to more!

The Things Between Us [2/?]

Wally won't talk to him. To be more specific, he won't talk to, touch, look at, or stay in the same room as Robin. He's trying to ignore the tightness in his throat that happens every time he catches sight of Wally before he runs off again. After all, there's always a chance that he'll come around, right? (He's allowed to have hope, isn't he?)

"I don't understand." Conner stated, watching him carefully. He and Robin are sitting at the island in the kitchen while M'gann cooked. Robin had been looking through old Batman files on his holo-computer, trying to ignore the intense stare the Kyroptonian had been giving him.

"Understand what, Supes?" Robin tried to keep his voice light, normal.

"The education that CADMUS supplied me with states that homosexuals are immoral and demented." It felt like he had just punched him in his solar plexus. Conner, oblivious, cocked his head to the side, regarding Robin warily. "But you are one of the most sane and moral people I have ever met."

Robin tried to smile at him. "Thanks."

"But Wally, despite being your friend, is treating you like an entirely different person." He continued as if he hadn't spoken, head tilting even further. "Why is that?"

"I am confused as well." M'gann stated, pulling yet another batch of cookies from the oven and joining them.

Robin looked down at the table, flexing his hands in an attempt to control his emotions (hurt, anger, betrayal). "You should ask Wally what his problem with me is, because I honestly don't know." (He'd never suspected that his friend was so homophobic. How could he be? He was a hero; it was basically his job to be indiscriminate.)

"That's not what I mean." M'gann said, shaking her head. "Martians don't have an equivalent for the word 'homosexual'."

"Are you trying to tell me that there aren't any same-sex couples on Mars?" He demanded.

She fidgeted. "Well... no. We're shapeshifters, Robin. If two people want to be together and are both boys, then one of them will just change into a girl."

"That's not exactly an option for me, M'gann." Robin ground out, trying to keep himself seated. "And even if it was, I wouldn't do that. I'm a boy - I feel like a boy. A boy who happens to like other boys. That's it."

Both of their brows furrowed. "That's it?"

"Yes." He stressed, patience running thin. "It works with girls who happen to like girls as well."

"But... what's the point?" Conner asked, honestly not getting it.

Robin couldn't stand it. He stood up, grabbing his bag and shaking his head. "If you don't understand, then I can't explain."

"Robin -" M'gann started, floating after him. He ran out of the lair without answering her.

Re: The Things Between Us [2/?]

maybe he's denying his own feelings?

or maybe he is homophobic?

Re: The Things Between Us [2/?]

Man, I feel bad for poor Rob. And for SB and M'Gann too though; it's not really their fault that they just don't understand. Never actually thought about how they would react before reading this. It makes sense that they would be the confused ones.

Seriously hoping to see if Batman finds out. Can't wait for the next bit!

The Things Between Us [3a/?]

Robin’s on patrol when he sees Superman flying over Gotham, the blue and red of his costume standing out against the city’s gloom vibrantly. For the first time in days, Robin feels his spirits rise, because Superman only ever comes to Gotham unannounced when he needs help, and he needs the distraction (how, exactly, every thug and villain seemed to be taking a break at the exact same time just when he needed a good fight was beyond him). Launching the Bat Grappling Gun, he swung from the building.

"Hey! Superman!” The Man of Steel halts midair, spots him on a neighboring rooftop, and flies down. He tries to keep a grin off of his face as he lands gently in front of him.

“Robin.” He places a hand on his shoulder, big and warm and comforting, smiling down at him. “I’m glad I found you.” Superman glaces around the area, squinting. “Where’s Batman?”

“It’s his day off.” Robin jokes, because really, Batman never takes a day off, ever. “He had other business to attend to, so he won’t be patrolling until tonight. Why? What do you need us for?” He can’t stop the eagerness that creeps into his voice.

“Actually, Robin, I wanted to talk to you about something. Come; let’s sit down.” Superman leads him the the edge of the roof, and they sit down side-by-side, legs hanging off the edge. Robin’s trying to not feel concerned at the extremely uncomfortable expression that has donned the Kryptonian’s face.

He clears his throat after a moment, looking at his hands in his lap. “I went to Mount Justice earlier and I - ran into Superboy. Conner. We … talked.”

Robin brightened immediately. “You did? That’s great! What did you two talk about?”

It was Robin’s turn to look at his hands, something anxious and bitter and desperate suddenly churning in his stomach. “Oh.”

Superman cleared his throat again, twisting to face Robin. “I don’t understand how you could say something like … like that with any certainly. You’re just a child, Robin.”

“Oh my God.” Robin buried his face in his hands, mortified. “Superman, I am not discussing with you how I know, with one hundred and ten percent certainty, that I’m gay. Unless you really, really want to know, which I doubt you do.”

“Oh. Right.” The Big Blue Boy Scout looked away, blushing. Robin ran his hands through his hair, struggling to control his expression so it didn’t display the turmoil he’s feeling. Superman rubbed his neck, looking pained. “Does … does Batman know?”

Batman. Oh God. Robin hadn’t even thought about telling him. Maybe that was because telling him was a non-option. If Batman reacted like Wally had - Robin choked on his grief. No, he couldn’t tell Batman, not … not yet, at least. “No, he doesn’t, and I don’t want him to.”

“Hey, it’s okay, Boy Wonder. He doesn’t have to know.” Superman held his shoulder gently. He couldn’t help but relax at the kindness and sympathy in his voice, relieved to finally have someone on his side. “In fact, you don’t even have to deal with this, if you don’t want to.”

“If I don’t - What?” Robin looked up at him, brows knitting in his confusion. Had Superman taken a satellite to the head on his way over?

“There’s a support group. It’s called “True Directions”. It’s for teenagers like yourself who need a little … guidance, when it comes to relationships. God knows you’d need it with him as your guardian.” Superman laughed at his little joke, but Robin just stared at him, gobsmacked.

“Are you - Did you just - You’re trying to get me to join an ex-gay organization?!” He voice almost cracks, and he’s up on his feet in a second, backing away from him quickly.

The Things Between Us [3b/?]

“Calm down, Robin, please.” Superman stands and follows him slowly, hands held up as though he was surrendering. “It’s an entirely discreet operation, so you won’t have to worry about anyone else finding out. Even Batman. They can help you.”

“I don’t need help!” Robin snaps, shaking. He can’t tell if it’s from his fury at “The Man of Tomorrow” or with fear of Batman’s reaction. “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with me!”

Superman sighs through his nose, his lips tight. “Robin, I cannot, in good conscious, keep this from Batman. Not if you don’t take measures to receive assistance with this issue.”

He froze, weighing the consequences for a single moment, before setting his jaw, giving Superman a hard look. “There’s not an issue here except for you.”

Superman returned the look. “Then let’s go tell Batman.”

He tried to grab Robin, to fly them to the Batcave, he assumed, but he pulled away, taking out the grappling gun and leaping off the building. Robin could tell that he was flying over him, keeping his eyes on him. He did his best to pay attention to his movements, flipping and launching through the air, and not what was about to happen. If Bruce couldn’t accept him … if he threw him out … how could he stand it? He doesn't have anyone else in the world. He wouldn’t have anywhere to go, no one to turn to … he couldn’t even be Robin anymore …

He was still Bruce Wayne when they arrived, dressed in the suit he wore to his meeting at Wayne Enterprises, his tie loose around his neck and jacket open. He scowls at the two of them as they enter the cave, sending a curios glance at Dick.

Dick can’t meet his eyes.

“What are you doing here?” Bruce asks, addressing Clark sharply, his typical attitude about outsiders in Gotham firmly in place.

“Dick has something he needs to tell you.” He tried to touch his shoulder again, but he flinched back. Bruce’s eyes narrowed at his reaction.

He doesn’t want to say it, but they’re both staring at him, and this is not something he should be ashamed of, damn it! Still, Dick can barely meet Bruce’s gaze, but manages to say it without stuttering. “I’m gay.”

Bruce stares at him, and says nothing. Dick feels like he's going to faint.

Eventually, impatiently, Clark demands, “Well?”

Bruce's eyes slide to Clark, looking at him coldly. “Well, what?”

Clark fumbles for words. “He, he, he needs help, Bruce! The poor boy thinks he’s a queer!”

Dick flinches again, surprised and stung by the language. Bruce’s scowl turns into a glare; he marches forward and grabs Clark tightly around his bicep, pulling him with him.

“Dick, go get changed. Clark and I are going to have a talk.”

He’s torn between staying and listening to whatever he's going to stay, and leaving the cave and never coming back. He doesn’t do either because he doesn’t want to give Bruce any other reason to be upset with him. But … was he? What did “well, what?” mean, exactly? Alfred begins to greet him, but he rushes past, intent on changing and getting back as soon as he could.

Of all the things he anticipated to see when he return, however, Superman storming out with Bruce calling, “I never thought that being raised in Kansas had such an affect on you.” was not one of them.

Dick stands there, shell-shocked. Bruce spots him and sighs, running a hand over his head to flatten his hair. He approaches him, opening and closing his mouth several times, before sighing again. Heart clenching in his chest, Dick looks at the ground. Then Bruce put his hands on either of his shoulders, squeezing them tightly.

“Even what should be the greatest of men are not perfect; do not listen to him. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you, and I will not tolerate you listening to anyone who says otherwise. I am sorry that he forced you to come out to me in such a manner.”

The Things Between Us [3c/?]

Tears prickled his eyes, and Dick lurched forward, clutching Bruce tightly around the waist, face buried in his midsection (and if it was any other day, he would be so embarrassed at the height difference right now). Bruce returned the hug, one hand stroking his head, but he only tolerated the physical contact for a minute before pulling away, patting him awkwardly on the back.

“Let’s … let’s go see if Alfred’s cookies are ready, shall we?”

Dick wiped his eyes, and nodded. He could use a cookie.

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

OMG, anon, my heart ;_;

Superman acts as if he wanted to hurt Batman by what happened in "Schooled", great twist!

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

aw Daddy Bats, confused martian and equally confused clones. I wonder what's wally's doing right now. Does he know Piper in this 'verse or if he doesn't what thats changed for his reaction to Dick (like he freaks more because he isn't friends with Piper)

I have a crack theory that Clark's perspective was influenced by how he "got cured" of being gay by detoxing from Pink Kryptonite.

looking forward to more.

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

Well, I'm fairly certain I could just keel over from the awwwwwww of this fic.

Stupid Superman. (Also: yikes, Bruce, dragging his home into it? Though I've got to wonder what the Kents would have to say about it...)

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

These homophobes are actually like bitchs ;A;
Ahhh sorry, I've been dealing with this kind of thing lately and it's been putting some strain on me.
good story anyway

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

I love that Bruce was accepting and defensive of Dick<3

This is wonderfully written~ I really hope an update comes soon!

Re: The Things Between Us [3c/?]

Please update, this is amazing!

also, I really need Wally and Robin to be friends again. and for Conner and Megan to ask about it in school and be like, oh my gosh, we're sorry! it gets better!

The Things Between Us [4a/?]

Sorry for the delay, everyone.

He walks into his room at Mount Justice, intending to grab a quick nap after training before he heads back to Gotham to patrol with Batman (who has been overtly nice, if not equally distant, to him since the Superman incident). His weariness dissipates immediately when he sees what’s waiting for him on his pillow; several pornographic magazines, spread out like a fan, each cover displaying a shirtless, glistening man (or men, in some cases). On top of them is a sticky-note with a winking emoticon.

For a moment, Robin literally sees red. His teeth are grinding together and his hands are balled into fists at his sides and he’s shaking all over. He snatches up the magazines and sprints back out into the entertainment room.

Wally is there, stretched out on his back on the couch, polishing off what looks like an entire pizza with little noises of contentment. Seeing him act like this, so normally, so nonchalantly, pisses Robin off further. He had tried to pretend until this point that this was affecting Wally as much as it was him, that he was still trying to sort his own feelings out about this, that it wasn’t just when Robin was present that he started freaking out, that maybe, maybe he was missing Robin as much as he missed Wally. Obviously, this wasn’t the case.

He dumps the magazines on top of Wally’s face. For a moment, Robin enjoys his flailing as he struggles not to choke on the pizza and remove the papers on his face; this stops the moment Wally realizes what the papers are of. He’s as far across the room as he can get from Robin in an instant, he face twisted with surprise and disgust and outrage.

“What the fuck?!” Wally’s voice breaks. It would almost be funny, the way he has himself flattened against the wall, if the physical display of the distance between them wasn’t nearly as painful as the emotional. “What the hell is wrong with you?!”

“I could ask the same thing!” He shouts back, throwing his hands in the air. “Why the hell did you put that in my room?!”

"In your dreams." Wally's lips curls back, and Robin's shaking, and right now it may be from his outrage, but he knows that later he'll be doing the same thing because of grief. They were supposed to be bros.

"What are you two yelling about?" Artemis asks, strolling out of the kitchen with a bottle of water.

"He put porn in my room!"

"Bull! He just ran out here and dumped that - that stuff in my lap!"

Artemis glances at the couch, then laughs. "Oh, that? That was me."

Robin's heart caught in his throat. "Why?"

She shrugs. "I figured that if you live with Batman, you probably don't have easy access to porn. I was trying to help you out."

His disbelieving stare is interrupted by sudden laughter from Wally. It's so different from his normal, cheerful laugh, this one being painfully jeering. "I didn't think about him! What's Batman going do when he figures out what you are?"

His breath hitches, before glaring. "I already told him. He could care less about who I want to date. Even if I wanted to be with an idiot like you, he wouldn't get rid of me."

Wally's eyes narrow. "As if I would ever date you, fag." He runs out of the room, sparing a moment to shove his shoulder into Robin's before disappearing.

Robin squeezes his eyes shut, taking deep breaths through his nose. As soon as he has himself under control, he glares at a stunned Artemis. "Thanks for the help, but you can keep them."

"Robin, wait-" He brushes off her attempts to grab him, dashing towards the zeta-beam.

Screw taking a nap. He wouldn’t be able to go to sleep anyway.

Re: The Things Between Us [4a/?]

My heart is breaking for Robin, man. ;_____;

Great update, the wait was definitely worth it~ Looking forward to the next part!

Re: The Things Between Us [4a/?]

Oh Wally! Whyyyyyyy. He can't really be so cruel, can he? They're bros! I'm hardcore Rob/KF but man, I'll be happy for Wally to just be sorry for all this, holy crap.

Also, that would have been hilarious on Artemis' part if there wasn't so much other crap going down. *sigh*

To be honest, I ship Rob/KF pretty hard too, and I kind of hate writing Wally like this. But the prompt asked for not everything to work out as smoothly as it does most of the time in this meme. The way I see it, M'gann and Connor don't understand the 'issue', Kaldur grew up in a location where some of the population can probably change sex at will, Artemis wouldn't care either way due to her background (which is why she would feel open to joking about it), and then other than the mentors, that leaves Wally, whoseAnd, on some level, this might make sense, due to family and social pressures he would probably experience at home and school, along with the fact that he's a fifteen year old boy. I imagine that he's still somewhat shocked over the revelation, and uncertain how to treat the situation, and self-conscious with dealing with it head on. So his reaction has become inaction, and being confronted like that put him and his supposed masculinity in a corner, causing him to lash out.

At least, that's the way I see it. Hopefully things will get better for Robin, haha.

Yeah... unfortunately that reasoning makes sense. Man, he better grovel! >:( *hugs Robin*

That was painfully nice to read. Eh, too bad that have to fill in the blanks now myself ;)

Re: The Things Between Us [4a/?]

Dear Author!Anon,

Please don't tell me this story has been abandoned. I absolutely adore this fill. Please, please, please update. Or even just some reassurance would be good.

Re: The Things Between Us [4a/?]

I second above comment. I really hope you haven't abandoned this, though it is likely you have.

Re: The Things Between Us [4a/?]

It's extremely likely, but I'm still holding out hope! Hopefully before my hair turns gray...

Re: The Things Between Us [3a/?]

Not trying to be judgmental to the author, because it is just a story after all, but Superman is pretty much the most accepting, non-judgmental heroes...ever. If anyone in all the world would be supportive of Robin in this moment...It would be Clark.
